How can I disable the lasso effect or pen tip highlight which triggers onenote 2016 to pull up the right click property window with all the copy and paste options? I am really annoyed that every time I am in the middle of taking notes with the pen it always wants to lasso something. Why does it do this?

Whenever I am writing in OneNote 2016 ONLY, the lasso effect somehow gets enabled right in the middle of me writing. It seems like the application thinks I am trying to highlight some text but I am not, I am trying to write? I have noticed this does not happen in the OneNote app as you cannot hold the pen to the screen enabling the lasso effect or right click menu properties like cut, copy and paste. Please help

Hello Jose,

The option to disable the Lasso effect in OneNote is currently not available. However, the said feature can be added in the future if you will suggest it to our OneNote UserVoice. I understand that the said effect automatically enable when you use a pen so providing your feedback or suggestion to the said website will help us improve our products and services. In addition, I found a thread that may be similar to your concern, please see the workaround posted by JonathanGibbsXD.

Hope this information helps you. In case you need further assistance, don't hesitate to post back.
