Virtual Desktop and PC

I currently have a PC and design forms in PDFs and Word.  When I send a Word document to someone that has a Virtual Desktop, they cannot open it up. The Word document has restricted editing to where they can only fill in the blanks and I cannot remove it otherwise they won't be able to fill out the form correctly.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

Thanks you.

Thanks for updating us. From what we understand, you are trying to remove the restriction that you have applied to the Word document you created for the users to edit it. We suggest that you try to disable the password protect or restriction that you have made on the said document. If not, kindly send us the screenshot showing the error that the user is getting upon opening the document.

Keep us updated so we can further assist you.

Windows 7 VM with Office 2016 is what we currently are using.  I do not have a virtual machine yet; still using the tower version. ;)

Since I am the creator of the document it works for me on the PC.  I'm wondering if there are certain instructions on opening it up in Word on a VM.  One of the other girls opened it up and said something about choosing "edit" and I don't see that on my end.  Is this possible?

    Hi,

There are things of which can cause the Word document not to open on a virtual desktop. Virtual desktop can be a factor for it. For us to isolate this issue, kindly provide the following information:

    • What is the version of Word that is installed in the virtual desktop?
    • What type of Virtual Desktop are you using?
    • Can that Word document be opened on your desktop computer?
