Can't Install Office 2016 "Error Code: 0-1012 (0)"

I haven't been able to install Office 2016 on Windows 10 for quite a while now. I have an Office 365 account through my university. I've tried various install files and I keep getting the same error code. I got the same error before and after I updated to Windows 10 Creators update. I've also tried following the instructions on (https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Use-the-Office-2016-offline-installer-f0a85fe7-118f-41cb-a791-d59cef96ad1c#OfficePlans=Office\_for\_business) thinking it might be a problem with my network but this hasn't helped either. I manage to download the entire install to my hard drive but when I run the install file I get the same error code.

    Hi,

We'll need to gather a bit more information to better help you with this concern. Kindly answer the following:

    • Are you trying to install Office 365 Home or Office 365 for Business?
    • Have you check if you have enough space on your hard drive?
    • Are you connected to your network via WiFi or via Ethernet cable?

    Hi Charianne,

Thanks for your response. I'm installing office through a university account which I assume is Office for Business. Following the instructions on the link I provided I tried installing the Office for Business version with the offline installer.

There's over 500 GB of free space on my hard drive.

I'm downloading through Wifi. I've tried in two different locations. I assume this point is moot since I'm using the offline installer but I could be wrong.

    David
