Is it possible to co-author excel worksheets that are macro-enabled?

I have seen some conflicting information about what are acceptable file formats for co-authoring. Is it possible for .xlsm file formats to work in co-authoring? If so, are the macros disabled? If .xlsm is not a viable format, are there plans in the future to allow macro-enabled content to have co-author capabilities?

Hi Shannon,

Based on our test, if you open a macro enabled document in SharePoint library and want to edit the workbook to co-authoring. The workbook will be locked by the user who is editing the workbook. You can only open the workbook in read only mode. If you click the Edit Workbook button, there will be a pop up window to prompt you that the file is in use, you can choose View a read-only copy or Save the edit a copy of the file.

So it is not feasible to co-authoring a macro-enabled file.

Yes it is possible, but there are limits.

Excel Co-authoring can be done now in the Online version of Excel, including XLSM files that are stored in the "cloud". But the macros wont' work ...

Co-authoring in Excel Desktop is currently limited to people running the Office Insider versions on files stored in the cloud.
