Embedded Visio Doc as object - automatic updates

Hi All,

I embedded a viso diagram in an excel sheet as object (link to file) . The visio file is in a repository http:\.

If I update the visio file the  object in excel doesn't get automatically updated.

Do you know now how to get the visio file update when I open the excel file ? Do I need a macro?

thanks

Simon

Hi Simon,

Excel can sync links from local folders but not from Online URL. As you mentioned the linked file is in http: but not in a local folder, that should be cause of the issue. You can try the workaround steps below to see the result:

  1. Put the Visio file in OneDrive sync folder.
  2. Insert the Visio file from OneDrive local sync folder to Excel worksheet.

In this way, the link is a local sync folder link. In the meantime, the OneDrive can sync changes of the file from Online to your local sync folder, then the link can sync changes from your local sync folder to your Excel workbook.

Thanks,

Rena

    Hi Simon,

Have you tried to use OneDrive local sync folder to do that?

    Thanks,
