5868 error

I am in version 16.10 (released today), and I am still getting this dialog box:

This box appears whenever I open an existing Word file that already has text in it.  I do not get this box when I open a new, blank document.

This box started appearing one or two versions ago.

I click "end," and the box goes away.  But that's an annoyance.    How do I correct this run-time error?

If you use Antidote, Webex, Silverlight, EndNote, Zotero or other add-ins there is a potential for crashes unless you also update your add-ins to the latest update. Install updates for these programs if you have them.

Interesting.  This 5868 error stopped appearing on the third day of v. 16.10.   I have never had a software problem go away on its own.   And I did not observe any updates after the v. 16.10 on February 12.

No further updates are available today.

I did notify Microsoft through Word's Tell Us What Can Be Better tool.   I know that Microsoft reads comments that way.

The last stable version of Word was v. 15.38 or 39 in September 2017.    I have had nothing but difficulty with each version thereafter.  It is because of those severe and ongoing problems that I know that Microsoft reads the comments sent through Tell Us What Can Be Better.

It is possible that 16.10 version of Office has this bug.

Try to update your Office again so that if any patch is released by Microsoft that would flow in. Sometimes you have to try many times before an update is recognised by your Office.

Another option is roll back to previous stable version which you had. To rollback -

    1. Uninstall the latest version of Office - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Uninst...
    2. Install the previous stable version - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Update...

I would suggest that you should post simultaneously to Technet forum also as this will be looked into by MS Product team also. So, your question will be on two forums - This and Technet.
