Scroll wheel

Thanks, Microsoft, for restoring the VBA IDE in Excel under Office 365.  Were you aware that in OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) the scroll wheel on the Microsoft basic optical mouse v. 2 doesn't work in the Macro Edit window? I'm delighted to have the tools back, but miss this feature.

Actually, Virgil, it is up to YOU to provide the updates about this issue. Peter reported the problem and your experimentation confirmed the problem. You represent Microsoft. What have you done to get this issue logged properly into the bug database?

    Hi Peter,

Based on my  repeated and  more careful test, I find the key point.

When I use scroll wheel in the VB Editor on version 15.30(release date January 11,2017), I find I can use scroll wheel to control the scrollbar. I use mouse and scroll up and down, the scroll bar also scroll up and down immediately.

However, when I reproduce the same step on version 16.10, I just find the response of the scroll bar will be slower compare to version 15.30. In other words, I need to use mouse and scroll up/down continuously, then the scroll bar will scroll up.

Regarding this situation, we suggest providing feedback to our Office 365 Excel UserVoice. This is the best way to make our products and services better for you and others.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Best Regards,

    Virgil

Thanks for such a quick reply!

    1. Yes, I do mean the Visual Basic Editor. Sorry, I should have got that right.
    2. My office version is 16.10 (for the Mac)

2a) My OS is El Capitan 10.11.6

    1. The scroll is only semi-responsive no matter what mouse I use.

I get consistent, entirely satisfactory results from the Microsoft mouse in all the other applications I use, including Excel itself, Word, Outlook, Firefox and some Adobe products.  That's why I suspect the Editor.

Since there is SOME response from the editor, especially early in a session, I wonder if it's possible that the edit window is failing to pick up the settings for the mouse and defaulting to something that doesn't really work.

Thanks.  Keep up the good work!

    Hi Peter,

From your description, I suggest try the following steps to check the outcome:

1)Update your mouse driver to the latest version.

1)Quit all running desktop applications and reopen the Macro Edit window to see the results.

Meanwhile, please provide the following information to better assist you:

1)Does the Macro Edit windows mean Visual Basic Editor?

2)The Office version number you are using.(Click Excel>About Excel).

3)Does the issue occur if you use scroll wheel with different mouse?

    Regards,

    Virgil
