Office 2016 setup error from Volume Licensing Center

I'm trying to install Office Standard 2016 from Volume Licensing on a new Dell laptop with Windows 10, and failing.

I have uninstalled all the trial Office apps that came with the computer, including Get Office. I've also run the "easy fix" app from Microsoft to completely uninstall Office 2016. I then download the Office Standard 2016 32-bit software from Volume Licensing, and launch it as a virtual CD drive to run. It opens and lets me click through to install, but it stops a few moments into the installation with the message:

"Microsoft Office Standard 2016 encountered an error during setup."

Any suggestions? I don't see any other error code on the screen that might give me clues about how to proceed.

I've tried downloading and installing both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions of the software, tried just plugging in my product key into the "activate" option on the trial software, and tried reinstalling Windows 10 in case something was corrupted there. Nothing has worked yet.

Thanks!

Since I didn't hear back before the 4th of July holiday, when I'd have extra time, I just wiped everything from the drive and reinstalled my Windows 10 operating system. Then I immediately uninstalled all the Office products, and attempted to download and install my volume licensing version of Office 2016. It worked!

So whatever problem had prevented the earlier installation was eliminated by wiping and reinstalling the operating system. And then I re-loaded all my other software and data files after Office 2016 successfully installed.
