Unlinking Excel graph from source worksheet

So I do a lot of work with Excel and Powerpoint, where the graphs from Excel get pasted into Powerpoint. This extremely annoying thing happens where the graphs copied to Powerpoint continue to be linked to their original spreadsheet, rather than act as separate entities. This means that if I change something in the spreadsheet, the graphs changes. If I move or rename the spreadsheet, the content of the graph disappears. If I copy the graph from one presentation to another, the content of the graphs disappears. This is absolutely doing my head in. How do I make Powerpoint treat the graph separately and unlink it from the source spreadsheet, so I can actually work with it properly? The only suggestions I've seen are to paste the graph as an image, which are of course useless, as then it can't be resized properly etc.

    Hi,

As per checking through this link, the only way for you to do that is to copy an Excel chart to your PowerPoint presentation.

For now, we suggest sharing your thoughts on our Feedback Hub to have that feature of unlinking considered in the future.

In order to submit a new feedback, please follow these steps:

    1. On a Windows 10 device, search for "Feedback Hub" in Cortana search, then launch the app
    2. Navigate to Feedback in the left menu, then press + Add new feedback
    3. Select the Problem, and share any details you think are relevant, and choose an appropriate category and subcategory
    4. Important: If possible, reproduce the problem(s) after clicking Begin monitoring (or Start capture) near the end of the form; Stop monitoring when you're done
    5. Once you've completed the form and monitoring, click Submit
    6. Click Continue using Feedback Hub
    7. Click My Feedback at the top, then find the item you submitted (it may take a while to appear)
    8. Open the item you submitted, then click Share
    9. Click Copy link, then paste the link here in your response (it will look likehttps://aka.ms/<unique link)

Let me know if you have further concerns.

    Regards.
