Hello Cecily,

We can see here that you are having issues with Excel or Word file. There are several factors why you are experiencing this and that is what we are going to figure out. Before we proceed, may we know the following:

  • Are you using any third-party antivirus software application?
  • Is there an active add-ins on your Office program?
  • Does the issue occur on all of your Word and Excel file?
  • What is the current version of your Office application?
  • Did the issue occur on other Office products like PowerPoint, OneNote or Outlook?

You can try to check whether your antivirus software is up-to-date or is conflicting the Office application that you are trying to access. Antivirus software can interfere with Word or Excel which cause performance issue. Updating your Antivirus software can alleviate the issue.

While waiting for your answer, you can also try to run the Office Configuration Analyzer Tool which can  help to identify and resolve known causes of instability in Office programs.

Let us know how it goes and we'll give you further assistance if needed.

My problem isn't with launching Word or Excel. The issue is when I try to save a document, I get an error message. Originally it was 0xC0000005. I uninstalled Office 365 as administrator and reinstalled. Now I get error 0xC0000002 when trying to save.
