Subscription rate increase

I just got notified that my subscription to Office is being increased by 14%. No explanation provided as to why the cost is suddenly going up at something like 7 times the rate of inflation. This sort of arbitrary price fixing feels offensive to me and a bit like a bait-and-switch trick. As a result, I have cancelled auto-renew and will be going back to the inferior but usable MacBook office utilities that I already have rather than swallow my indignation and consent to being treated like a tame cash cow.

I too am upset with the significant increase that MS has declared for their MS Office subscription service. I suspected this would happen when I signed up in Dec 2016. But a whopping 10.1%????????? That is crazy. As usual explanations are short coming . I am in Canada. Jim - The Cdn $$ has strengthened to the US $ and if anything the subscription rate if based in US $ should decrease. And of course trying to contact MS to complain is next to impossible. The link they supplied in their notice of increase- "contact customer service" -leads to the MS Office Website and I am still trying to get a link to actually send to MS. I came across this forum and am expressing my frustration. I still want to send an e-mail to MS to complain and will need to spend another 30 minutes seeking a way to do that. But I know it will be a waste of my time dealing with a monopoly. They know they have us by the short and curlys and exercise their ability to squeeze every $ they can from us once we are in their black hole and know that the alternatives are few due to their monopoly.  Very upset. Jim- any suggestions on how we can relief from this insane increase????

I also received a rate increase notice...within my 1st yr of having a subscription...not happy especially when there is no real reason except as a cash grab :( I will have to explore other options because if they did it once...

    Hi Kevin,

Usually when Microsoft or a big company raises prices there are announcements and news stories. Yours is the first report I've seen. By any chance did your subscription type change?

I wonder if these are exchange rate adjustments.

@Kevin - are you in the USA?
