SharePoint not recognizing .htm file

Hi,

Following this You Tube video by Peter Kalmstrom on how to add Excel hotpsot image to SharePoint:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU95809DtMM

I tried the same, however, it's not working for me at all.

I completed adding an image to Excel and attaching hotspots, I used the 'save as' option on the Excel file and renamed the extension as .htm file and then uploaded the file to SharePoint Site Pages library of my site.  However, SharePoint keeps thinking it's an Excel file and tries to open it in excel?!

I checked the properties of the file in SharePoint too and it shows the file is indeed a .htm file but it keeps trying to open it in Excel.  I have renamed the file extension to .html and .aspx but none seem to be working for me once in SharePoint.  (the file opens up as a hotspot image in the browser while its still on my desktop).

Any help much appreciated!

Regards

Nadeem

Hi Nadeem,

Content Editor Web Part is not intended to add .htm content.

For your requirement, I’ll suggest you post a new thread in TechNet forum, some kind of code might be required to get this working.

Thanks for understanding,

Neha
