Word iOS unit settings

I am using Word on iPad and have noticed that dimensions such as page size and table row heights are shown in inches.  There appears to be no way of changing this within the app. Changing the regional settings on the iPad seems to affect them. However since mine is set to UK why am I seeing inches?  U.K has been metric since around 1970 and I know  the USA may  be backward in that respect  but there is no reason for US companies to inflict that on others! Call that imperialistic! 

Have I missed a trick?
