Error when editing the PPTX file properties

Hello,

Since the last Office 365 update, I can't view, edit or change the properties in my PowerPoint files (Word, for example, seems to be working fine...). When I try to change the fields/values (let's say, for "Subject") and save it, I get "an unexpected error is keeping you from applying properties to the file"... and an "Error 0x80004002: No such interface supported".

I first thought my PowerPoint got corrupt, I re-installed it. It did not fix the problem. I then switched from my desktop to my laptop, that was using a previous version. I could edit and change the properties of my PPTX files, till I updated Office... now I got the same error message.

Any thoughts guys?

Thank you!

The last Office update (just released) fixed the issue...

    Hello,

Well, it seems that this issue is not just for me: Windows File Explorer does not display the Office document properties

Microsoft's engineering team is actively fixing this issue...

    Thanks

    Hello Ma. Lau,

    Thank you for your reply.

I've just finished performing everything you asked/suggested to do: safe mode, repair (even re-install), and clean reboot. This has not fixed my issue. I am not using any add-in or 3rd party app.

What is weird is that I got the exact same problem right after updating Office on my other laptop (I could change the properties of my PPTX files just before this update).

    Any further thoughts?

    Thank you

    Hello Krizba,

For us to better isolate your concern, we would like to know the following information:

    • Are you getting the same issue when you the your PowerPoint in safe mode?
    • Are you using any add-in or third-party app?

We suggest that you repair your Office from the Control Panel and do a clean boot to check if you will still encounter the issue.

Get back to us with an updated status of this issue for further assistance.
