Wordcount doesn't work properly - same count with and w/o footnotes, header, etc.

Hello,

I noticed recently that the wordcount in Office 2016 doesn't "work" anymore.

In a document that contains headers/footers, it makes no difference when I click on "include textboxes, footnotes and endnotes".

Word seems to only take the words of the body text into account.

Any idea of what could be the culprit?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

I tried to repair Office, it did not change anything to my problem.

    Uninstall/reinstall? I can't think of anything else.

We appreciate your response. If your Office Word 2016 application is not working properly, you may restart it; however, if restarting does not work, you can try repairing your application; then restart your computer. To do this, see this link.

We would appreciate it if you could get back to us and provide us your feedback.

    Hi Michael,

Apart from the usual Windows 10 Updates (set on automatic) I experienced a sudden loss of all my Desktop folders/files a few days ago (I still don't understand how this can have happened).

But the wordcount issue appeared a month ago, so I don't think it's linked...

I have scanned my PC for viruses with Malwarebytes, nothing on this front.

I don't get any error message in Word 2016.

No other troublehooting step so far. Shall I try a 'repair' of Word 2016?

    Thanks!
