filling in forms with restricted editing

I am trying to create a template that will allow users to either edit a paragraph of text or delete it completely.  So far, I've accomplished this by using Rich Text Content Control and selecting "Remove content control when contents are edited."  This allows me to restrict editing to only that paragraph and delete the entire paragraph if necessary, but then the spacing of my paragraphs is off.  I can delete the entire paragraph, but the line remains, so that I have too much space between the remaining paragraphs.

Any suggestions as to how I can allow users to edit or delete the entire paragraph and the now-empty space, without editing the paragraphs above and below?

Thanks!

Unless you're using formfields, there's probably no reason you couldn't use the "No Changes (read only)" editing restrictions for the whole document, with exceptions marked as required - and you'd only need the content controls for non-text inputs (e.g. dropdowns, date selections).

If you are using formfields (which would require "filling in forms" protection), you shouldn't also be using content controls; the two weren't designed to be used together and doing so can cause inconsistent behaviour.

There is no need to use a content control for this - you could just mark the entire paragraph concerned as an exception to the "No Changes (read only)" editing restrictions.

Thank you!  The only issue with that is that I need to keep the editing restrictions on "Filling in Forms" so that the remainder of the document is protected except for specific areas I've designated as fillable.

Is there a way to apply different protections to different sections of the document?

Put your content control at the beginning of the following paragraph and include a line break at the end of the placeholder text that uses the same size as a paragraph break? Not ideal.

[Edit: Paul's suggestion is better unless you need a content control for some reason there. Make sure you include the paragraph mark in the exception if you want users to be able to delete the paragraph.]
