PowerPoint Screen recorder

When starting the Screen Recording in PowerPoint 2016, I get following message "an error has occurred, please try again". I've have reinstalled Office, Done repairs, made sure my office are up to date. A work around is to run the application "As administrator" this works.

You could also delete your windows profile. This works too. And last I have reinstalled Windows. Since I'm working in a big company, the option to run the application as admin are not there. We can't keep deleting our windows profile. So... Any suggestions to what happens here.. sometimes it solves it selves.. probably by some automatic updates that i'm not aware about.

Any hints..?

/Michael ( I'm not the admin )

    Hi Michael,

To narrow down the issue, please follow the steps below and provide us the information:

    1. C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16, find the MSOSREC.exe, this is the Microsoft Office Screen Recorder application.
    2. Right click the application>Properties
    3. Go to the Security tab first, check if the users (XXX) has the “Read & execute” permission and “Read” permission.

    1. Go to C:\Windows\System32, find the dwm.exe, this is the Desktop Window Manager application
    2. Right click , properties
    3. Go to Security tab, check if the users has the right permission.

In the meantime, we would like to confirm that you are in Window 10.

    Thanks,

    Rena

    Hi Rena,

    Unfortunately no..

Making it run as admin is a workaround and not a solution to the problem. And i'm not a local administrator.. So this won't work for me.

I wonder why the screen recorder are connected to my windowsprofile.. shouldn't it run no matter if your an admin or not..?

    /Michael

    Hi Michael,

From your description, you can follow the steps below to set PowerPoint always run as an administrator to avoid the issue:

    1. Right click the PowerPoint>Properties
    2. Shortcut tab>Advanced
    3. Check the “Run as administrator”

    Thanks,

    Rena
