Word file editing

I have purchased a new Lenovo laptop with windows 10 just two days back . today i activated my Microsoft account. Now when i try to edit the world document it is not working: you can't make this change because the selection is locked. I don't know what to do

One possible reason why this message appears is because Office has not yet been activated. To better assist you and provide you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, kindly answer the questions below:

  • Does this error come up on all documents you try to open?
  • Is Office 365 activated? To check, click on File and select Account on any Office 365 application.
  • Can you post a screenshot of the error message that you are getting?

    Thank you John for your quick response. Yes i did activate my Microsoft Account but hadn't activated office 365. Now i did that and everything is going well. Thanks team Microsoft for the assistance.
