Now that SharePoint has removed the tags and notes option, is there another platform that allows easy tagging? Onedrive or Box perhaps?

Hi Analicia,

Yes, you are right. The Tags & Notes feature of SharePoint Online has been retired.

Regarding your requirement, you can choose to:

  1. Keep track of all the documents and sites relevant to you ( see Organize documents and sites in Office 365)
  2. Add an enterprise keyword to a SharePoint item to use for distributing the item to anyone following the keyword (see Add an enterprise keywords column to a list or library)

Besides, you can also choose to create a Managed Metadata column in SharePoint Online and add the column to your Documents library to create searchable metadata in SharePoint Online if you need. For your reference:

Create a column in a SharePoint list or library

Using site columns to create searchable metadata in SharePoint Online (Office 365)

William

Msft seems to be clueless when it comes to useful functionality - they are too busy creating things no one wants to actually address obvious flaws in the existing product. I'd try out other options like box and see if they give you what you need.

    Hi Lisa,

Users add enterprise keywords to items on a SharePoint site so that they can use the keywords for tagging and to develop a folksonomy.

To improve the user experience of the Enterprise Keywords, I suggest you go to SharePoint UserVocie to submit your feedback which is the best way to let the related team hear your voice. Many good features are added from customers’ suggestions products.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    William

I have attempted to use Enterprise Keywords but it has been layers of complication and inefficiency.  Is there a better way to tag or a better application than Sharepoint?
