Comments on Sharepoint Pages

I love the comment section on the pages. I set up alerts to be notified if anything is changed within my Sharepoint documents and pages however I can't figure out how to add an alert for comments on pages. I'll create a page for my team, ask them to comment, and then I just have to keep checking back to see if anyone commented. Is there a way to have an alert sent to me?

    Hi Rkeogh,

What's the template and how did you add the comment section of your pages?

If the comments are all items in "comments" list, you can just set alert for this list "when new items created".

Meanwhile, you can add Discussion Board to the home page to let your users comment on that. In this situation, you can easily set alerts for comments.

    Regards,

    William

The comments are listed below my Site Page (I'm not sure if this is the correct terminology). I have an alert set up for "when new items created". The screen shots below are zoomed out pretty far so you can see what I mean.

Here are the alerts I have already set up:

    Hi Rkeogh,

From your screenshots, I understand you want to track comments on the modern page added in your SharePoint site. However, this is not feasible to to that. By setting alert for this page can only get notification when some operations applied this page itself, such as Modified by someone.

Regarding your requirement, I suggests you submit your feedback at SharePoint UserVoicewhich is the best way to influence our products.Meanwhile, Yammer Feed is another workaround once you have configured the Yammer Network. Please refer to this pagefor details.

    Regards,

    William

That doesn't make sense. The comments in the screen shot are obviously being stored in a list somewhere so you just have to figure out what the list is and add an alert to that. An alert on the library the page is stored in will only notify you of changes to the page not the comments list. Open the comments web part and see if you can identify the list (click edit current view). If Msft can't tell you what list it is, then that is a bug which needs to be fixed.

    Hi webbrewers3,

The comments section in the screenshot is not a web part with all respect. This is new feature inside the modern page and we can choose to enable/disable it via SharePoint admin center.

If you have any suggestions, please submit your feedback at SharePoint UserVoice.

    Regards,

    William
