read only - compatibility mode - Excel

I created all my company invoices & records on Excel 2007. I upgraded to office 365. Now, all my forms open listed as a number (instead of the name I saved them under) followed by read only - compatibility mode - Excel. I can edit my records & forms but it won't allow me to save the changes unless I save the file under a different name or folder. Even after I do this, when I re-open this file, it opens again as a number - read only - compatibility mode.

I have over 8000 files I need to access/copy/edit. How do I fix this?

Try repairing your Office installation. First try Quick Repair (takes 5 - 10 mins) , if that doesn't help then try Online Repair (Takes more than 30 mins but less than 1 hour in general)

Hi Brian, when you save the document under a different name are you also changing the file type to xlsx rather than xls

You need to to do this in order for the 2007 file to be compatible with Excel 365!
