OneDrive folder "doesn't exist"

Hi all,

My OneDrive folder is not recognized by my computer as existing. When I try to call the folder with software (e.g. Stata) or from the Terminal, it tells me "No such file or directory." I have a Macbook Air, Mac OSX 10.12.16 High Sierra.

This happened suddenly, with no changes – no updates to OneDrive, no updates to my Mac operating system, nor to the software. I did not change the file path in any software. When I manually obtain the file path, it tells me it is the same one – and yet then tells me it doesn't exist when I try to call it again.

Things I have tried to fix it: reinstalling OneDrive; unlinking and relinking my Office365 account; deleting and then re-syncing the OneDrive folder to my Mac; changing the location of my OneDrive folder; deleting the Keychain related to the OneDrive app; updating OneDrive.

NONE of these have worked. Please help, I'm at my wits end.

Hi Dana,

As Python is a third-party tool, to move forward on this thread, we may firstly focus on call the folder with Terminal. Could you share with the command you use to call OneDrive folder in Terminal? I have sent you a private message to collect it. Some related screenshots are much appreciated.

Regards,

Tim

    Hi Tim,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    1. The OneDrive client syncs files perfectly fine – that functionality hasn't been altered.
    2. When I say manually, I mean I can click on the folder in my computer and open the files. However, when I try to call the folder (e.g. using a software such as Python, or checking the directory in the Terminal) it says that it does not exist.
    3. I tried creating a new Mac account – I get the same error message.

    Best,

    Dana

    Hi Dana,

To better understand the situation, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. Did OneDrive sync client sync well before? Does it sync files properly now?
    2. What do you mean by "manually obtain the file path, it tells me it is the same one – and yet then tells me it doesn't exist when I try to call it again"? Do you mean you can access the synced folder manually but still cannot call it or you cannot access synced folder either?
    3. Create a new Mac account to see if it will get the same error message.
