Excel 2016 copy/paste problems

I have Excel 2016/Windows 10.  Starting this morning, my copy/paste function is not working properly.  When pasting, it now defaults to "WRAP TEXT" and "MERGE CELLS".  This means that it changes the fundamental column widths with a worksheet when pasting.  Please advise.  Thank you!

The problem still persists. I have worked with it for a few days now. It is only a problem in Excel (not Word or Outlook).  And the problem appears to center around the clipboard itself.

If I Copy/Paste a single item, one at a time, everything is normal. However, if I copy multiple things and later attempt to paste them out of the clipboard, everything I described above occurs.

    Hi,

This could be a problem with the program, or there may be underlying issues on the computer that resulted to what you are experiencing. Kindly answer some questions for us to assist you better:

    • Did this happen after installing updates or applying changes on your PC?
    • Do you get any notifications when using Excel?
    • Do you encounter the same problem when using other Office apps?

Let's try running Excel in safe mode to see if the same problem will happen when add-ins are disabled for the program. Click this link to know how to run Office apps in safe mode.

Please check if Wrap Text is selected when pasting data in the cells in Excel. You can set a default row height for all the cells in the sheet to keep the cells from having different sizes. Follow these steps:

    1. While the workbook is open, right-click on the sheet at the bottom of the Excel window.
    2. Choose Select All Sheets.
    3. Click on Format.
    4. Select Row Height....
    5. Enter your desired row height for the sheets in the workbook. (We recommend choosing 15.)
    6. Click OK.

Let us know if you need more help.
