I pushed the 20H2 Feature Update to several Windows 10 machines in our organization as an optional installation for testing.

Two machines took part in the test, both were v1909:

  • One upgraded to 20H2 (as reported by winver) but SCCM says it Failed and wants to try again.
  • The other failed to upgrade (winver agrees, it's still 1909) with a "SetupHost: OneSettings initialization failed: [0x80072F8F]" error

The first can be ignored -- the upgrade worked, the bizarre failure message notwithstanding.

HOWEVER ... Any idea what this "OneSettings" error means, how to deal with it, or even what OneSettings might be??? Any clues are appreciated.

    Hi ,

Just want to confirm, you used ConfigMgr to push the Feature Update, right?
If yes, we can check the UpdatesDeployment.log on the client side. Or you could upload the UpdatesDeployment.log(with the sensitive information masked) to review?
This log records details about deployments on the client.

    Thanks for your time!
