Planner cannot add attachments

Steps and Results:

  • Followed troubleshooting steps from link: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b48a2102-7f41-4b86-8f33-e9be81cf4382/planner-task-attachments-not-working?forum=onlineservicessharepoint
  • Went to OneDrive, opened group, found all the files that were associated with the group. Went back to planner, opened a new task, tried to attach a file, only receive the option to attach a link.
  • Verified all group settings, nothing is different than the groups that we are able to attach files.
  • I was able to recreate the issue on my test account but only  momentarilly, I would create a new plan in planner, then create a new task and try to add an attachment. The only option was to add a link, but after 5 seconds the page would refresh (propagation i guess) and the options to add File/Link/Sharepoint would appear.

    Hi Jonathan,

To investigate further, I'd like to collect the following info:

    1. As each plan has a related site collection, please let these two users directly access the four site collections mentioned in the private message. Check if they can access and upload files in it. In the plan, click "...">Files to access the site of that plan.
    2. Some trace logs for the issue. I will send you the step in the private message.

    Best regards,

    Tim

    Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for replying to my private message and sorry I didn't catch the point immediately.

Let me firstly write a short summary for the issue:

    1. In client's tenant. Some existing plans cannot open attachment in tasks. In these problematic plans, user only has one option (Link) for attaching items.
    2. New plans don't have this issue.
    3. Not all old plans have the same issue.

To move forward, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. Does only one user encounter this issue now?
    2. Does the issue occur with different browsers?
    3. Some tenant info for this client. You may reply this private info in the private message.

    Best regards,

    Tim

    Hello Tim,

My name is Jonathan, I'm the O365 agent assisting the customer, the test account being referred to is my own account. I was instructed to post with the customer on this board since this seems to be a know issue for which we do not have a documented fix. I'm free today if you want to send me a PM.

    Thanks,

    Jonathan

    Hi Muriel,

We suggest you firstly focus on troubleshooting the issue with that support team for the services ticket. We will help you monitor the status of this service request.

For my personal suggestion, it seems that your test account have the Add Attachment function properly in Planner now. You may firstly make sure the test account can use those three options to attach file without problems. Identify if the issue is related to all existing accounts with all tasks and plans.

    Best regards,

    Tim
