Internet explorer is currently set as the default app for .ppt files.  I want it to be PowerPoint 2016 but it does not come up in the options when I try to change the default.  Please tell me how to fix this.

    Hi Valerie,

It’s possible that the installation component of the program is corrupted, that’s why it can’t change the application as the default. For us to better assist you, please answer the questions below:

    • How many Office programs installed on your computer? To find out, go to the Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Which version of Office is installed on the computer? to get this information, open PowerPoint > File > Account > Product Information.
    • Is this happening to other Office files like in Word and Excel?

As an initial recommendation, we suggest that you perform an online repair for Office to fix missing and corrupted installation components. To do this, check this article for the proper procedures on how this can be done accordingly.

We’ll keep an eye out for your response.
