Excel(2016) auto adding border in row

Whenever I type in any cell in any sheet, I keep getting a border that runs across the entire row I am typing in. When I scroll up and down, the line disappears, but as soon as I type or hit enter the line reappears. Any thoughts on this? I swear have encountered this before but I do not remember the fix.

Hi Blake,

Whenever I type in any cell in any sheet, I keep getting a border that runs across the entire row I am typing in. When I scroll up and down, the line disappears, but as soon as I type or hit enter the line reappears. Any thoughts on this? I swear have encountered this before but I do not remember the fix.

This is a known bug introduced with the September KB4011050 update.

This has been fixed with the KB4011165 update. See:

Dark borders around rows and cells appear when entering text in Excel 2016 after Sept 12, 2017 update (KB4011050) [FIXED]

    Thank you for your reply,

    1. Yes there would of been, this took place after an update to windows 10.
    2. Screen shot provided below, again after entering a number and placing enter this line appears, but as soon as I scroll down and the in the sheet and scroll back up, the lines disappear.

    1. I figured this had to do with formatting, I cleared all formats and have even tried to place on a new sheet but still appearing.

4./5.This is happening on all sheets I open or create.

    Hi Blake,

We need to determine the reason why you are getting border lines when typing in Excel. With that said, we will be gathering additional information. Kindly answer the following questions:

    • Did you make any changes on the computer prior to this concern?
    • Can you send us a screenshot of the issue you are experiencing in Excel? Note: Please do not include any personal information.
    • What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?
    • Is this happening on a single file?
    • Have you tried recreating the said file? If so, did you experience the same issue?
