Excel Spreadsheet shows program saved but cannot reopen the file

We have Office 365 and on one of our Laptops I cannot save Excel files.  The below message appears.  If I save it the document shows saved but not as an excel file but shows saved as file for file type and assigns a random letter/number combo as the file name.  Help!

The Document was saved successfully, but Excel cannot reopen because of a sharing violation.  Please close the document and try to reopen again.
