The Microsoft Upload Center found a problem while accessing the Office Document Cache and needs to repair it before it can continue

I am getting the following error message:

The Microsoft Upload Center found a problem while accessing the Office Document Cache and needs to repair it before it can continue

When I try to repair nothing happens and the same problem persists, causing Excel to crash if I try to open a new document from the drive.  I have tried to fix the problem using the following link:

https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Delete-your-Office-Document-Cache-b1d3765e-d71b-4bb8-99ca-acd22c42995d

I did a clean reboot without problem but when I try to delete the cache files from the upload Center I cannot access the settings window (i.e. I click on Settings but nothing happens).  Is there another way to delete cache files? or generally to fix the issue I am having?

    Hello,

Looks like you are encountering challenges saving files using the Microsoft Upload Center. This issue is often caused by file or cache corruption. Since you already performed the steps to delete your Office document cache, we recommend that you uninstall and reinstall your Office application and see if the issue persists. Kindly use the Easy fix tool provided from this support article to: Uninstall Office from a PC.

Give us an update on the result and we will be glad to assist you further.
