eDiscovery export tool hangs

Split from this thread.

We just started using the Exchange Admin in O365 to export PSTs today.

We had problems running getting the export to kick off in Chrome at all, IE 11 gets us further down the track

1st test was to export my mailbox, date-constrained to be > 1st October 2017 to see if it exported Recovered Items.  Test worked well, reports are good and Recovered Items seems good.

2nd test on 2 mailboxes not so good. First it said it would take >24 hours so I generated a report to see what the results were going to look like (results export still running).  The report quickly got to 0 seconds to go, 82 (out of 11,793 items) Estimated remaining, 169 items per second.  Then it froze and has been frozen ever since.  Eventually the unhelpful message "It looks like it's taking a while to download your search results. Get tips on how to fix this."  Which doesn't really help

I re-ran the export taking care to specify the export criteria carefully, and it completed in under 5 minutes.

I'm not clear what might have changed between the freezing report and the successful export, but the the source mailboxes, network, machines and target storage area all remained the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Peter

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your post. I'm glad that you re-ran the export and it completed successfully.

Although source mailboxes, machines and target storage area all remained the same, there are many other things may affect it, like network, and other things.

If you still have trouble exporting, you're welcome to post in our forum.

Thanks and your understanding is appreciated.

    Regards,

    Carlos
