External user cant sync SharePoint document to computer

I shared a SharePoint document to an external user and I want them to be able to sync it to their computer.

But when they press sync the following error message comes up:

"Sorry, we couldn't open the sync client

We couldn't process the URL."

The user is signed into their own OneDrive on their local computer.

What do I have to do to let them sync the document.

Microsoft 365 and Office | OneDrive | For home | Windows

Hi Patrick,

Synchronizing content using an external or guest user is currently not supported by OneDrive. For details, see Restrictions and limitations when you sync files and folders
