Hi Carolyn,
As John's advise, please update your PowerPoint to the latest version and see the result.
If you have any further questions at this time, please feel free to update here.

Hi
What kind of object(s) are affected?
What version of PowerPoint do you have (Go to the PowerPoint menu and choose About PowerPoint to get this information)
Is this a new problem?
Hi Carolyn,
The general situation: left click and keep , and then press control and move the object, you can get a duplicate.
Can you please check if the control key works well or not?
To exclude the effects of third-party software, run your Mac in Safe Mode to see whether the issue goes away.
