One note pen styles

Question

I am currently using One Note Version 17.8568.xxxxx.x (not  One Note 2016) the colour of the app/home screen is deep rich purple - It doesn't tell me what one it is ... anyway I have set up colourful pen styles (widths, shades, effects) and my preferences are just not available in One Note 2016?

does anybody know how you can transfer pen styles you create to different versions of One Note for example you upgrade to the next One Note and don't want to lose your customisations and pen settings is there a solution ?

Microsoft decided to create two different versions of OneNote in order to keep some legacy functionality that are available only to the OneNote 2016 app. On the other hand, OneNote or OneNote for Windows 10 is designed to receive regular updates which includes new functions, features, and security.

In addition, accessing your OneNote notebook should look and feel the same, the features may just vary depending on the version that you're using. Regarding your concern, could you tell us more about the OneNote sync issues. It will help us understand the situation better.

Hi Darwin, seriously why would Microsoft create different versions of OneNote when the whole purpose of onenote is to curate information? a curation tool shouldn't have so much variation. 2016 should just be a cut down version of win 10 then not different. 

I have continual sync issues with Onenote (Win 10) and have to use onenote 2016 - but I don't want to. The one thing OneNote 2016 has is a export function that allows me to effectively create a backup offline.
