Excel - doesn't allow to group text boxes

Hi

I'm using excel 2016 (office 365) and wanting to group three or four text boxes.

However when I select them all (shift + select) the "group" icon is greyed out.

I don't remember having this issue in previous versions of Excel. Is this a bug?

Hi PDS,

Please check if you are in the “the group button is unavailable” situation in this reference. There are some reasons listed shows why the group button is grayed out.

If this is not related to your scenario, please provide the information below:

  1. The screenshot about the text boxes you want to group.
  2. The Office version. You can go to File>Account>Product Information to check the version.
  3. Does the issue happen to all workbooks?
