Access database corruption

Greetings!

I know this is a general question. I have a specific issue where the user of a multi-user application with an Access database has managed to corrupt the db twice in four months.

I used the built in utility to repair it - the error was 'The Microsoft Access database engine stopped the process because you and another user are attempting to change the same data at the same time'.

What are the typical reasons for such occurrences?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks,

First, your database needs to be split as indicated. If it isn't, that is a major source of your problem and splitting will probably alleviate it.

If it doesn't, then you may need to play with the record locking.

Are your users all sharing the same Access database file, or is it split into a front-end and back-end, with each user having their own copy of the front-end?
