Notebook always continuously syncing

I have one notebook that's always syncing. It always has the double-curved-arrows syncing symbol on its icon in the list of notebooks, and when it's in use it always has "-Syncing..." next to its name in the window title.

Possibly related: the application takes a long time to quit. After issuing the Quit command the OneNote (leftmost) window title remains highlighted for 5-10 seconds after the window disappears and before the application's menu titles disappear.

Is there a cure?

(I'm a.k.a. iggleXX. Can't recall exactly why I had to create a new account to post yesterday.)

Tisky, before your reply I did close the offending notebook, and got an error that it hadn't synced and the problem section was put at the end of the notebooks as "Misplaced sections" which could be opened read-only.

Then after various experiments, such as copying whole pages to a new notebook, that failed with the same issue,  I was able to solve the problem by tediously creating new pages in a new notebook and copying/pasting the contents  of the old pages.

If the problem recurs I'll try your suggestions.

    Hi Iggle,

If the notebook that won’t sync is stored on OneDrive or on newer versions of SharePoint, try opening the notebook in OneNote Online (at www.onenote.com). This can help determine if the problem is caused by the server or by OneNote.

    1. On the toolbar in OneNote for Mac, click Notebooks > Notebooks > Copy Link to Notebook.

    2. In your Web browser, click inside the Address box, and press Ctrl+V to paste the copied URL.

    3. Press Enter to load the notebook in OneNote Online.

If you’re able to successfully open the notebook in OneNote Online and the changes appear, the problem may be caused by OneNote for Mac. Closing and re-opening the notebook there usually clears and successfully resets the connection. Follow these steps:

    1. On the menu bar in OneNote for Mac, click Notebooks > Notebooks > Close This Notebook.

    2. Switch back to the notebook in OneNote Online in your Web browser, and then click Open in OneNote on the ribbon.

    Regards,

    Tisky
