Workflow automation - large files

Hi,

To set my question in context. What I want is to provide is a shared upload folder for mobile clients automatically syncing pictures and video from multiple phones and accounts. And then access this shared folder from a computer locally with Adobe.

OneDrive Business does not provide a direct mobile upload alternative like OneDrive does. Neither do the other major providers as far as I can tell. Even if it did/does the upload target folder cannot be chosen - apparently quite intentionally according to Dropbox. I get the privacy concerns with mixed business/private usage of a phone, but that is not an issue here.

So looking for workarounds I was delighted when I found MS Flow. I tested it and found that it worked nicely moving files from the upload folder of a private OneDrive to a shared folder on OneDrive Business. Until it tried to move video files which are quite often larger than 50 MB. Not only does it seem that the large file itself is not moved, but the other files pending in the flow is not moved either? No good..

I see there is a O365 Video solution out, so moving large files in the landscape should not be unheard of, in fact this is an interesting workflow automation target. Are there any suggestions on how to automate such a thing as initially described without resorting to locally hosted solutions?

Best regards,

Ola

Hi Ola,

Thanks for your update.

As you said, Microsoft Flow has its limits. If you have other questions about Flow, we recommend you post a thread in Flow forum for dedicated support which is a specific support channel for handling related queries. Thanks for your understanding.

In addition to waiting for the feature for OneDrive for Business to be released, I would like to suggest you use the new OneDrive sync client to sync files on PC. In this case, when dragging files to local synced OneDrive folder on your PC, files will be synced automatically to OneDrive for Business.

Regards,

Yoga

    Hi Yoga,

Thanks for your reply. I realize that ODB currently has this limitation, and that there is a push on the User Voice to change that.

But in the meantime - what I am looking for are suggestions for a workaround. I mentioned that I have found Flow, but that this for some reason is limited to 50 MB files. Can I pay for more? Or do you have any other suggestions for automating a copy/move? How is this handled with respect to the new Office Video? Manual only?

I have been looking around quite a bit, so I am not optimistic about the response here, but I thought I would give it a try before resorting to Nextcloud or the like.

    Best regards,

    Ola

    Hi Ola,

Based on your description, you would like to upload files from mobile to selected folder automatically. It is not feasible to achieve it in OneDrive for Business. In this case, I'd like to invite you to submit this idea at our User Voice or vote this similar idea which is submitted by another customer. Many features have been designed or upgraded based on customers’ comments.

    Your understanding is highly appreciated.
