I can't manage to change the icons on my sharepoint sites. Instead of the default initials, I want to put an image there that will help us find what we're looking for in the dozens of sites that we've created.

After reviewing the help (see here ) , I've managed to get to the Change the look page, but, unlike the direction given, there's nothing in my site that corresponds to the instruction: On the Site Settings page, under Look and Feel, click Title, description, and logo. Further, the screen shot of the menu is, as it is often, NOT what I'm seeing.

I'd appreciate any direction anyone can offer.

Thanks,

Wayne

    Hello Wayne,

If you are trying to change an Office 365 group logo/image

I would suggest referencing the below article:

Add or delete your group photo in Outlook on the web

An alternative way to do that is:

    • Navigate to portal.office.com with your admin credentials > Groups > select the group you want
    • on the right side you will have a window with the group's details > under the picture you have a "change" button.

    I hope this helps you.

    Regards,

    KaGe

Thanks again, Yoga. That got me closer. I put a logo in there. I clicked OK - I saw it there. But now when I go to the Sharepoint page the logo appears for a second and then it's overwritten by the square-with-initials again.

I don't know how - but I managed to do this without going to a special URL to make it happen before. I have several Sharepoint where the logo change was made, by way of menu selections, and stuck.

Any other ideas on how to make this happen? How did I manage to do this before via menus? Again, I'm the OWNER on these sites.

    Hi Wayne,

    Thanks for your update.

According to your description, you are the global admin and cannot see the Title, description, and logo setting. I assume you are editing a group site, whose Site Settings displays as below.

If so, you can go to the Title, description, and logo setting page via this link: https://YOURTENENT.sharepoint.com/sites/SITENAME/_layouts/15/prjsetng.aspx, such as https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/site 1/_layouts/15/prjsetng.aspx

Besides, to display Site Settings as usual as the article you mentioned, you can create sites and site collections in SharePoint admin center. Go to Office 365 admin center> Admin centers> SharePoint. For more details, Create or delete a site collection

    Regards,

    Yoga

Hi Yoga: Thanks for your reply.

I'm the admin on the entire O365.

Can you tell me how I can change the permissions so that I can make those changes?

BTW - most of the sites I'm attempting this on - I actually set up and I'm set up as the owner.

    Hi Wayne,

Based on your description, you cannot change icons for your SharePoint sites.  If you don’t see Title, description, and logo, you probably don’t have permission to manage that option. You need to have at least permissions equivalent to being in the Owners group on your site. It’s also possible that your organization has defined the design for your entire site collection and removed your permission to manage these options.

    Regards,

    Yoga
