When I insert a comment without selecting any text, the word to the left of the insertion point is highlighted (Word 2003) . Can I change that so there is no highlight?

You can select a blank space before inserting the comment. That way, at least no visible text will be highlighted.

Good point. I was hoping to avoid highlight altogether but that will do. Thanks.
