Character Spacing Issues

Hi,

I've been running into this problem A LOT and it's really starting to bug me.

Sometimes when I try to change font colours or formatting of a text, the characters in that text get random spaces. I've tried kerning the text and it didn't work.

I've inserted an image of what the text looks like in the text box once I grouped two text boxes together.

As you can see, the text inside the textbox is funny looking with random spaces between the characters. Towards the left of the textbox, I've written "facilitates survival" in the EXACT same font settings. You can really see the effect with the word "cognitive".

As I've already said, I've tried kerning and I saw no change.

The preview shows the correct formatting but the actual font still looks weird!

Please help me out!

Using Word 2016 (most recent update) and macOS High Sierra 10.13.1

Thanks!

That didn't help me at all. I even tried adding shadow to the actual text.

The text has to be the size it is.

Grouping the text box with word art made it all messed up.

    Here is without the grouping:

And here is with the grouping and the text box shadow (I also put some shadow on part of the text):

I believe you have a font issue.  Here is what I was able to do with your same information I used Word standard body font.  I enhanced the text box by putting drop shadow.

    Hi Angeliquezyl,

    Thanks for your updates.

Based on your description, I suggest you try Safe Mode to check if the issue occurs.

If the issue still exists, could you please provide the following information?

    1. Check if the issue occurs when you create a new document without any format.
    2. Which font do you use?
    3. Provide a affected file. As we need it to reproduce the issue.

To protect your privacy, I've sent you a private message to collect the information. You can access it via private message

    Thanks,

    Qing

    Hi Angeliquezyl,

To narrow down the issue, could you please provide the following information?

    1. The Office version. As we need the detailed version, such as 15.41 (171205)(Open Word>Click Word>select About Word).
    2. Confirm if all files have the issue.
    3. Check if the affected font occurs on the picture, as we need to confirm if the issue is related to the picture.

    Thanks,

    Qing

    Hi Qing,

    My version is 15.41 (171205).

Every single file has the exact same issue.

The problem seems consistent with grouping in text boxes as well as changing font colour, with or without text boxes.

I don't understand what you mean about a picture as there isn't one in the document. I screenshot another example:

As you can see, the issue is both inside and outside the text boxes.

Edit: I've had the same issue for months now with every version of 2016 Word.
