Dear Community,

My WebQuery was able to open the webpage www.asx.com.au last year. A few months ago I started to received a script error at Line:112 and Char:153.

It can open webpage such as www.google.com.au and www.microsoft.com.au.

Is anyone was having similar problem and able to share a solution?

Thank you very much.

Eric

    Dear Josef

    Thank you for your attention.

My problem has not been resolved.

I tried the suggestion from Anne but it didn't work.

I have the same error on both Excel 2010 and 2013. I also found same script error with Web page www.chi-x.com.au.

So to recap here's my problem :

    I've four Web pages

I can open them all with all four browers(in browser window ) below:

    Internet Explorer 11

    Chrome

    Firefox

    Microsoft Edge

I have script errors with Web pages

    Www.asx.com.au and www.chi-x.com.au

When opening them in the "New Web Query" window of Excel 2010 and Excel 2013.

    Does anyone has  similar experience?

    Thank you,

    Eric

Thank you for your response. If you can't open the website and you don't know which browser the Web Query uses, you can check it from settings. Follow the steps below to check for the default browser:

    1. Go to Settings.
    2. Select System.
    3. On the left-pane, click Default apps.
    4. Under Web browser, check which browser is on default.

If it is Internet Explorer, you can check this article on how to troubleshoot script errors.

If anything comes up, don't hesitate to get back to us anytime.

    Hi Anne,

    Thanks for the reply.

Here are answers to your questions:

    • Is there any other error messages when you're opening a website? No
    • Are you receiving the script error every time you open a website? No
    • Does it happen to any other websites? No
    • Can you open the website using a different browser? Don't know. I use the Excel 2013 "New Web Query" window to open the webpage. So I don't know what browser it used.

I have Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013.

    Office Update version: 15.0.4953.1001

Here are the steps to recreate the error:

Open a new blank worksheet with cursor at cell A1.

Click DATA, From Web (New Web Query window open up).

Type In Address www.microsoft.com.au the webpage open within the New Web Query window.

Type In Address www.google.com.au the webpage open within the New Web Query window.

Type In Address www.asx.com.au the Script Error message appeared.

    Kind regards,

    Eric
