Margin lines in two column format

This question was previously asked but I do not find an answer. Word 2007 and 2010 both appear to have a problem when printing changed lines for tracked changes in documents with multiple columns. Although the vertical changed lines appear correctly on screen adjacent to the text in each column that has been changed, when printed all changed lines are incorrectly placed in the left-most column.  Additionally, if a 2010 document is opened in 2016, the margin lines do not correspond to their placement in the 2010 version.

Testing here, in Word 2016, the tracked lines seem to appear correctly in a printout, but not necessarily in Print Layout view. Word 2016 seems not to print any tracked lines next to a column, only in the left and/or right margin of the page.

The document was created in Word 2010 but when opened in 2016 (by others) the margin lines are not in the correct location and some convert to red in color when originally black in color.  When it is printed by me, not in Word 2016, print preview shows the margin lines in the correct place but the transfer to the printer (tried two different printers) places them all on the left margin of the page, not the left margin of the column (two column format).

What you describe can be easily reproduced in Word 2010. Are you saying that the display and printout in Word 2016 is correct for you?
