Subdocument split is adding a blank page to each document.

I have a document that I need to split into separate documents. I am using the Heading 1 style to split the documents using the Master/Subdocument feature. Everything works great, the files split, they are named according to the Heading 1 style. The only problem is every one of the subdocuments it creates has a blank page appended to the end of it.

Am I missing something here?

Hi Sarney,

Please try Jim's solution as a workaround.

    Hi

I think a macro can come to your rescue. Here's a link to a question about how to delete the final section break.

Macro to delete last section of document | Microsoft ...

A macro could automate your entire workflow, and I recommend you investigate this option if you need to perform this repetitive task.

    Rena,

Do I have to perform that action in each every subdocument individually? Is there any way to do the en masse? When I perform the split I am getting hundreds of documents and I do not want to have to open each one and do something.

Can do a find and replace on this section that is added?

That's a disaster waiting to happen. See:

    Hi Sarney,

When you split the subdocument, a new section break (next page type) is created.

You can open the subdocuments, and follow the steps in Delete section breaks in Word to delete the section break.
