SharePoint Sharing Failed Error

Anonymous
2017-09-18T10:29:05+00:00

I am trying to add an internal user to a SharePoint site and get the following error;

Sharing Failed: [Title] - [Column Validation Failed].

I am able to add this user to other SharePoint sites and I can add other users to the site I am working on within the same permission's level.

There are other internal users with the permissions group that I am trying to add the user too - bit confused!

    Hi Kev,

To move forward, I'd like to confirm the further things:

1.Is this site collection created in SharePoint admin center or via clicking Create site in SharePoint home page?

2.If you just share a file/folder to this user, will you get the same error message?

3.Some trace logs for this issue.

4.Your account and tenant info. I have sent you a private message to collect the info. It also contains steps for log file collection.

    Thanks for your time.

    Tim

    Hi Kev,

Are your initial steps the same as below?

In the site>click Setting gear>Site Settings>People and Groups>find that group you want to add him>click New>enter his account>Share.

Meanwhile, please share with us the site which you cannot share with this user. You could use mydomain to replace the real custom domain.

    Best regards,

    Tim

    Hi Tim,

Thank you so much for your reply.

    1.  I am getting the same error by adding the user via the Share option at the top of the screen and when I have tried to add the, via site permissions.

    1.  I have added other users to the group I am trying to add this user to.  (Most were added on Friday but I missed this user - hower i have added other users without issue)
    2.  The user is still not able to access the site -

    Hi Kev,

To better understand the situation, I'd like to confirm the following things:

    1. How do you add the internal user to that SharePoint Site, directly click the Share button at the site home page or click Site Settings>Site Permissions>Grant User Permissions?
    2. Capture a screenshot of that error message.
    3. What do you mean by "There are other internal users with the permissions group that I am trying to add the user too"? Do you mean other users in the same group as this user can be added or you directly share the site to that group?
    4. Although you get the error message, let this user check if he can access this site now. Meanwhile, you can click Site Settings>Site Permissions>Check Permissions>enter his account>Check Now>capture a screenshot of the result.

    Best regards,

    Tim
