Algorithm behind "Remove Background" tool

What kind of algorithm (e.g. unsupervised clustering?) does the "remove background in picture" function use? I want to implement it on my research project, but I couldn't find anything about it online

    Hi j_w_lim, this is a very complex thing to code, I doubt Microsoft will give anyone access to their actual source, though it can be accessed through an API

    Not sure the following addressed the specific question of the actual algorithm used in PPT or in any program for that matter but it does describe the process
