Word First Things First crashes application.

Question

When I launch Word it askes me to accept the user agreement, as it should because I have just installed it after re-installing windows.

When I click agree the whole application crashes completely, please help I can't get any work done without word.

Hi Tom,

Outdated application, application error, add-in conflict are a few of the possible reasons why you are experiencing issues with launching Word. Start with updating Office by following the instructions on this link. If you’re still experiencing the same issue after updating Office, open Word in safe mode to determine if the issue is not caused by add-in conflict.

If you were able to launch Word in safe mode, you have to uninstall the troublesome add-in. If the issue is still happening while in safe mode, repair Office.

If repairing Office didn’t help, uninstall Office manually or using the easy fix tool. Follow the instructions under Option 2 or Option 3 in this article. Once you’ve completely uninstalled Office, reinstall it by following the steps on this link.

• Do you have a third-party antivirus installed? If yes, what is it?
• Is it happening to other Office applications?
