File From OneDrive keeps closing

I am trying to open an Excel Spreadsheet that is saved in Folder that is shared with me in One drive. The document opens and then seems to automatically scroll down and then close itself. If i copy the file to my desktop it works fine, If I open in OneDrive via a web browser it also works fine. Other users have access to this document and they do not have the issue. I have uninstalled OneDrive deleted all the local data and reinstalled Onedrive and synced again and the issue persists. I have repaired and updated office and the issue continues.

Can anyone suggest why this may be happening and how I fix?

Many thanks

David

    Hi David,

    I had the same issue trying to open synced OneDrive office files in Windows 11. It seems to be an issue with Office365 credentials and OneDrive (not so sure but maybe only for OneDrive for Work/School accounts).

    Please, try to reset your Office credentials, doing these steps:

    1. Open an Office365 app - Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
    2. Sign Out the app with your Microsoft account (or Work/School account);
    3. Go to the Start Menu and search for the Control Panel;
    4. In the Control Panel window, open the Credential Manager and delete all saved credentials (you can do a backup just in case you would need it);
    5. Open the Run dialog (press Windows Key + R) and type the text below into the dialog window and press enter: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\16.0
    6. Delete all folders ending with the word "Cache";
    7. Open an Office365 app and Sign In using your Microsoft/Work/School account;

    Hope its help you to fix your issue! =)

    @David Ewer

    Please check whether this issue reproduced on other Office files on OneDrive? Or does just this specific Excel file have the issue?
    I suggest you make a copy for this file, then rename the copy, drag it to your OneDrive folder for a test.

    How did you open this Excel file?
    It's recommended to go to Excel first > Open > locate to OneDrive cloud, local OneDrive folder or "Shared with me", find the Excel file to open and have a check.

    Currently, I also suggest you make sure the Preview Pane is turned off in Windows Explorer.

    Any updates, you may post back.

    My personal account is experiencing the same issue, and I can open other files of non-MS-Office type (i.e. txt file) as expected. The solution proposed by @Andre Hociko is nice and helpful.
