OneDrive Sync Conflict Section Grayed out.

The main issue some of my users are experiencing is that any file opened with OneDrive will not notify them that someone else is editing the document and are creating copies of files every time they open them and save them.  The issue stems from OneDrive, the sync conflicts setting under the Office tab is grayed out.  This is happening randomly throughout our users.  I need to know how to activate this section, please.

We are using Office 2016, OneDrive version 17.3.7074.1023, I have tried reinstalling all applications.  I have tried resetting Onedrive.  Can someone help me out here.

Hi Eric,

Given the screenshot, if devices mentioned above are in your office, the "greyed out issue" may be related to Group Policy settings in your tenant. You may contact your IT, let him check the Coauthoring and in-app sharing for Office files section in this article. If the setting is disabled, he can choose to enable it via Group Policy according to your company's policy.

For the notification about another user, based on my test with the Office suite from Office 365 subscription (in my test it's Office 365 ProPlus), when two users open the same file in their synced folders. They could get the notification for each other is editing the document. We can see the requirements for real-time co-authoring, we need to use the Office suite from Office 365 Subscription. The Office suite in your tenant is one-time purchased MSI installation. To learn more, see Collaborate on Word documents with real-time co-authoring. Thanks for your understanding.

Regards,

Tim

Correct me if I am wrong but if a user opens a Synced doc and another user opens the same synced doc it will not notify?  What are your suggestions to get past that issue? However, the problem with the grayed out OneDrive settings is still an issue.   The autosave is there.

    Hi Eric,

    So, the situation is that:

Users will sync their OneDrive for Business library and SharePoint Online library to their computers. When two of them work with the same file which is stored in their synced folder, their changes will save as a copy rather save to the original file. (If my short summary is incorrect, please feel free to let me know)

As you mentioned the setting option under Office tab, I want to know if it’s always grayed out or sometimes it displays properly but sometimes it will be grayed out. Meanwhile, could you capture a screenshot of this setting option from your side (especially when it is grayed out)?

Moreover, is the issue mainly related one format of Office files? For example, the issue mainly occurs with Excel files. When user open the file in Office apps, is there an Auto Save button on the left top of the window?

    Best regards,

    Tim

    Hi Eric,

To investigate this issue, I'd like to confirm the following things:

1.By OneDrive, do you mean consumer OneDrive (https://onedrive.live.com) or OneDrive for Business (access https://portal.office.com>click OneDrive tile)?

    1. Open one of the Office applications>click File>Account>capture a screenshot of all info under Product Information.

    Best regards,

    Tim
