excel crashes while scrolling

steps that lead to crash:

  • open the excel file
  • use scroll button in the mouse

Excel crashes.

Crash also happens if I click on "options" or use arrow keys.

This seems to happen to a workbook saved as xlsx or xlsm. The workbook in question has a plot page and a page that has lots of formulaes (most of them are using matrix computation (Ctrl+shift+enter)). If I delete the page with formulaes the workbook works fine.

    Hello,

This can be an issue with the Excel application or if there are certain add-ins installed. To properly isolate the issue, let us perform some troubleshooting steps. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Open Excel in Safe mode. Right-click the Start button (lower-left corner) in Windows, and click Run. In the Run box, type excel /safe, and click OK. If the issue is resolved, click File > Options > Add-ins. Select COM Add-ins and click Go. Clear all the check boxes in the list and click OK. Close and restart Excel.

If the issue does not occur, start enabling the add-ins one at a time until the issues occurs. This will allow you to figure out which add-in is causing the problem. Be sure and restart Excel each time you enable an add-in.

    1. Check if there's any update for your Office application:

              a. Open any Office 2016 app, such as Word, and create a new document.

              b. Go to File > Account (or Office Account if you opened Outlook 2016).

              c. Under Product Information, choose Update Options > Update Now.

              d. Close the "You're up to date!" window after Office is done checking for and installing updates.

    1. If still the same, please repair your Office application. Detailed steps are provided on this link.

Once done, please check if you will still encounter the crashing issue.

Let us know the result of the suggested steps.

    Thank you.
