Editing excel document from multiple devices

I have an excel document that tracks my finances. A common occurrence for me is that I leave it open on my desktop PC, and then when I'm outside and I wish to edit it from my cellphone, it tells me the document is locked. What can I do in this situation? The solution seems to be either figuring out a way to timeout the locking, or allowing collaborative editing using the same account. Or a third option?

I'd rather avoid having to remotely login into my computer to close the document.

I'm running Windows 10 pro and have an Office 365 Home subscription.

The document is stored in OneDrive.

    Hello,

It looks like you're having problems editing your Excel files on your mobile device. For us to effectively assist you with your concern, we would like to know the following:

    • Does the issue occur to all the Excel files that you're trying to edit?
    • Have you tried restarting your phone?
    • Have you tried to enable the Share Workbook option of the file, and see if the issue persists?

    Regards.
